In the music city of Markneukirchen in the Vogtland region, the “Summerschool Musikinstrumentenbau” took place until September 14, a unique event for instrument makers and music enthusiasts. Among the speakers was Swiss violin maker Alexis Schilbach, who showcased his specialized techniques for the restoration and crack repair of violins. Schilbach emphasized the importance of proper foundational techniques to treat wood, a living material, correctly, ensuring the longevity of the instruments.
Benjamin Schilbach, who also served as a speaker at the “Summerschool Musikinstrumentenbau,” delivered three lectures on diverse topics. As a versatile expert in design and brand strategy, Schilbach is the owner of the SCHILBACH online shop for high-quality violin-making tools and runs a design and branding agency. His lectures provided practical insights on topics such as “Metamerism in the Workplace,” “Accurate Cost Calculation in Violin Making,” and “Establishing a Brand,” offering valuable knowledge and practical advice for the industry.
